Emoticons and smileys for Skype - how to find secret emotes
Emoticons and smileys spice up every Skype chat - in addition to the standards such as :-) or ;-), Skype also offers other secret emotes, which you can use to make fun of your chat partner's displeasure, aversion or even alcohol consumption last night of visualization. We present the most curious known and secret smiley shortcuts.
The standard Skype smileys and emotes
Skype comes pre-installed with a number of unusual emotes - so you can include them in the chat:
- Just click on the little smiley in the lower right corner of the chat window. In the menu window you will find exotic emoticons such as the dancing and moonwalking John Travolta or the devilishly grinning Satans smiley.
- Alternatively, you can add the smiley using a text command in the chat window. To do this, simply enter the emoticon phrase in English in brackets (...) in the chat window - for example: (devil)
Secret emoticons for Skype
In addition to the standard smileys from the selection, Skype also offers hidden emoticons - emotes whose "secret" text command you need to know:
- Some of the more harmless ones are (drunk), (wait), (highfive) or (swear). A little more suggestive are (mooning), (finger) or (wtf). Real metal freaks are recommended (rock) or (headbang); and who drank too much (beer) at the (party) can then share the result with (puke).
- You can find a complete list in this practical tip. More were added in spring 2014 - the overview can be found here.
