eMule does not connect - you can do that
You can exchange files with other users free of charge via eMule. However, if the software does not connect to the file sharing network, this guide will provide ways to solve the problem.
You can do that if eMule doesn't connect
The file sharing client eMule was first published in 2002. Although this has not been actively developed for several years, files can still be downloaded via the software and shared with users from all over the world. If there are connection problems, please note the following:
- If you haven't already, download and install the latest version of eMule from a trusted source.
- Before you can use eMule, you need to add working servers to the software. You can find this, for example, on the emule-security website. org / server-list /. Click here on "Add servers to emule" and confirm that you want to open the link with eMule.
- eMule can use both the eDonkey2000 and the Kad network. These may be deactivated in the options: In eMule click on "Options" and then "Connection". Make sure that the two ticks for "Kad" and "eD2K" are set.
Enable eMule ports
It is also necessary that the ports used by eMule are enabled in your router. The exact procedure depends on the router used. As a rule, you should search for keywords such as "port forwarding", "port releases" or "port forwarding" in the configuration and enter the necessary data there. Then restart your router.
- Enable these ports for eMule in your router: TCP: 4661, TCP: 4662, TCD: 4711, UDP: 4665, UDP: 4672
- If you have further problems, you should also enable the client ports used by the software. The respective TCP and UPD ports can be found in the eMule options in the "Connection" section.
- If you also use a software firewall, you must enable the same ports in it. This also applies to Windows' own firewall. In general, your firewall must not block the eMule software.
- If you need more detailed instructions, you can also find them here. In further practical tips, we explain how to enable the ports on routers from FritzBox, Easybox, Speedport, Unitymedia and TP Link.
