How to dispose of your PC
Computers do not stay up to date forever. If your PC has become too old and unusable for you, you must dispose of it. We advise you on how best to get rid of your old PC.
Sell or give away old computers
If your old computer is a bit outdated but still working, you may find a buyer with little effort. This way you can give pleasure to someone on a tight budget or maybe even get some money for it.

- Even with everything and for free, you can advertise your old PC as a gift.
- If you want to get rid of a complete PC, buying portals like Momox may pay you some money. They also offer free shipping by package pickup. Old notebooks are also purchased from Rebuy, wirkaufens.de and flip4new. These companies overhaul the devices and resell them.
Dispose of electrical equipment
Since March 24, 2006, everyone has been obliged to have old electrical appliances disposed of properly. There are four ways to do this:
- If you have to dispose of large amounts of electronic waste, scrap dealers will pay you a few cents to euros for your old boards.
- Take your computer to the recycling center.
- Most major electronics stores such as Saturn, Media Markt and Conrad accept your old computer for disposal free of charge.
- If you want to save time, driving and towing, you can have your electronic waste picked up by a disposal company like Elektroschrott.de for little money.
Donate the old computer
Maybe your old computer can still serve a charity. Donate it:
- The organization "Computer Donation" accepts computers for job seekers and the socially disadvantaged. Since practically every old computer is still sufficient for office applications and simple surfing on the Internet, this donation is worth considering. There are "computer donations" in Hamburg, Bergheim and Würzburg.
- The social project "AfB" employs people with disabilities to restore old computers and sell them.
