EPlus: number portability - how it works
The cornerstone for the relatively problem-free number portability to mobile phone providers such as Eplus was laid with the change in the Telecommunications Act 2012. This practical tip tells you what you need to consider when porting your phone number to Eplus.
How to take your mobile number with you to Eplus
Before you can apply to Eplus to take your number with you, you must cancel your old mobile phone contract. Eplus won't do that for you. To do this, the network operator takes the number with you after you have decided on a current tariff. However, the procedure for taking phone numbers with Eplus is a bit cumbersome:
- First, download a pre-made number-taking document and print it out.
- Then fill in all the fields and send the signed document to Telefónica GmbH, to which Eplus has belonged for some time. Alternatively, you can send the document to fax number 0331-700 31 30. Eplus will usually get back to you within the next two weeks.
- However, please note that your previous mobile service provider can still charge a porting fee. Most of the charges for taking the number with you are around 25 euros.
- You must also make sure that the contract end of your previous mobile phone contract is no longer than 90 days ago, otherwise your number will be reassigned.
- If you want to take the phone number from a prepaid card to Eplus, you can. We will tell you exactly how in a special article.
