Convert EPS file - Here's how
If you want to open an EPS file with common image editing programs, you have to convert the vector graphic. We'll show you how.
Image editing: convert EPS file
- EPS files are vector graphics that are not stored in simple pixels like normal images.
- The pixels are calculated mathematically so that no quality is lost.
- You can convert the files in several ways. Read on in the next paragraphs.
Convert EPS file to an image
With the free image editing software "XnView" and "EPS Viewer" you can open the EPS file and then save it in an image format such as JPG or PNG.
- In this guide we use "XnView". Download and install the free program.
- Once you have started "XnView", simply drag the EPS file into the program with the mouse.
- Open the file with a double click and select the "Save as" option under "File" in the upper left corner.
- Choose "JPG" or "PNG" instead of "EPS" as the file type. Then click the "Save" button to convert the file.
Convert EPS image to PDF format
With the "PDF24 Creator" you can also open the EPS file and save it in a PDF file using the save button:
- Download the "PDF24 Creator" and install the program.
- Start it and select the file in the middle overview with a double click.
- After a short wait, the content of the EPS file appears on the right.
- Now you can save the EPS file as a PDF by clicking on the diskette symbol.
Edit and save EPS files
With the more professional programs "Inkscape", "CorelDraw" and "Adobe Illustrator" you can not only convert the EPS file, but also edit it extensively.
