Create epub from Word file - how it works
If you want to create an Epub document from a Word file, you have to do a little trick. We'll show you how to do it.
Creating epubs from Word files - that's what you have to do
- Copy the entire text of your Word document to the clipboard. It is best to use the key combination [Ctrl] + [C].
- Word unfortunately does not save files as HTML. So you have to use an online converter like "word2cleanhtml".
- On the website, paste the copied text into the field with [Ctrl] + [V] and click on "Convert to clean html".
- Make sure that you have activated the first two and the last checkbox (see photo).
- Then download and install the free "Sigil" ebook editor.
- Open the HTML view in Sigil by clicking the "" icon.
- Paste the generated HTML code from the website here. Then activate the book mode by clicking on the book symbol. Check here whether the formatting is correct and whether there are any errors.
- Now you still have to validate your ebook. To do this, click on the green arrow above. If there are no problems, you have done everything right!
If you do not currently have a reader available, you can read epubs in the browser. You will find out exactly how in the next practical tip.
