Inheritors for Facebook account: Determine inheritance contact for Facebook account
Facebook recently introduced a feature that allows you to add a legacy contact. In the event of death, you assign a legacy contact to a selected Facebook user to manage your Facebook account as soon as it is commemorated. Among other things, the latter can then update your profile and cover picture, respond to friend requests and write a fixed post for your profile, for example to share a last message on your behalf. Follow the instructions below to add a estate contact.
- First log in to Facebook with your access data in order to select the triangle symbol with the left mouse button in the upper Facebook tab.
- Once you have done that, a menu selection opens in which you select the "Settings" option. You will be redirected to your personal settings.
- On the right side, select "Security" from all the options to get to the corresponding area.
- In the "Security Settings" click with the left mouse button next to "Estate Contact" on "edit", to then enter the respective contact in the field with the description "Select friend".
- Finally, select the "Add" button to finally designate the contact as a legacy contact. A window also opens in which you can optionally send a message to your estate contact.
- In the last step you can close the window if you do not want to send a message to your estate contact. In this case, your estate contact will only be contacted once your Facebook account has been commemorated.
So that the estate contact can manage your Facebook account in the event of death, you must first make settings for the state of commemoration. In another practical tip, you will learn how to close your account in the event of death or to put it in a memorial state.
