People who suffer from gout have too much uric acid in their bodies. With a gout flare, the joints and cartilage swell painfully. With the right diet, you can relieve gout attacks.
- Avoid red meat . Beef, pork and lamb raise uric acid levels.
- Eat lots of vegetables . This is basic and has a positive effect on the acid balance in the body.
- Eat fish once or twice a week, but not mussels or crustaceans. They look acidic and are therefore rather unsuitable.
- Alcohol and fruit juice increase the uric acid play. Preferably drink herbal tea or tap water .
- Dairy products cool the body and relieve gout attacks. Eat low-fat dairy products several times a week .
- Avoid offal, skin and crusts from meat, smoked meat and sausage, and any products that contain yeast.

Proper nutrition is an important step in relieving gout. But there are more tips that can help.

- Reach or maintain your normal weight. Obesity favors gout.
- Don't drink alcohol. It makes it difficult for the body to excrete excess uric acid.
