Like every year, the ESC 2018 also had favorites in advance for winning first place. We have researched for you who has great chances for many points in the Eurovision Song Contest.
ESC 2018: these are the top favorites
On May 12, 2018, artists from 43 countries will compete in the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest in the Altice Arena in Lisbon.
- Portugal is hosting because last year the Portuguese Salvador Sobral won the mega music show.
- Every year, favorites are selected in advance and traded high in betting shops.
- 31-year-old Eleni Foureira is currently in front. Although she is Greek and born in Albania, she performs for Cyprus with her fiery song "Fuego".
- Before that, Netta Barzilai, who is now in second place on the favorites list and is called "Netta" for short, had the edge. The 25-year-old Israeli starts with the electro pop number "Toy".
- In third place and therefore also with good chances is an old ESC hand. The Norwegian Alexander Rybak won the show in 2009 with the title "Fairytale", in which he not only sang but also played the violin. This year he tries again to make a fairy tale come true - with the title "That's How You Write A Song".
- By the way, with the Eurovision Song Contest App you can vote for your personal favorite on May 12, 2018 with your smartphone.
Germany hit the ESC again in 2018
At least in the run-up to the ESC, Germany is not in a top spot this year either.
- For Germany, YouTube star Michael Schulte is competing with international competition this year.
- The 28-year-old winner of the preliminary decision tries his luck with the song "You Let Me Walk Alone".
- The betting shops do not seem to be completely convinced of the ballad. The bookmakers currently see the German representative in 15th place
- Should it actually turn out that way, that would be a good placement with a total of 43 participants. In recent years, the German representatives have regularly been ranked low.
