Print labels yourself: Automatic printing in Word
Note: If you use OpenOffice, we have separate instructions for creating labels for you.
- In Word, you can use "Shipments" and "Labels" to enter a text for the label, such as an address.
- Use "Options" to select the manufacturer of the labels you want to print on.
- Then choose whether you need a page full of labels ("One side of the same label") or just "One label".
- The label is transferred to your Word document via "New Document". Before you print it out, you can change the size, font and color.
- If there is no template for your sticker labels, follow the instructions in the next paragraph.
Create and print labels yourself with Word
- Open Word and then search for "labels" in the templates. Here you will find numerous label templates in different sizes, colors and types.
- Choose the template that best fits - for example, the address labels. The labels are formatted so that you only have to change one text field. The change is then applied to all text fields.
- Therefore, adjust the first text field so that the text is correct. You also have to remove all symbols, graphics and formatting that you do not want.
- If you have pre-cut sticker labels, they have to fit exactly. Therefore, you should now arrange the columns and rows of the text fields in such a way that they fit as well as possible for now. You may have to set the text size slightly larger or smaller.
- Now make a test print on normal paper. Hold the printed sample labels in front of the sheet with the label stickers against the light. So you can see which labels are already in the right place and where you still need to readjust them.
- Alternatively, you can also measure the labels and count the dimensions on the computer using the ruler at the top and on the sides. However, you usually cannot avoid a test print and fine adjustment.
- If the text is in the right place during the second test print, you can insert and print the address labels instead of normal paper.
