In Excel, you have various options for integrating a background picture. We'll show you how easy it is.
Excel: insert background image
Excel includes a function that you can use to insert a background image quickly and easily. However, you cannot edit this after inserting it. You should therefore cut it to a suitable size beforehand.
- On the Page Layout tab, click Background> Page Setup.
- Select the desired picture on your computer.
- Excel arranges the picture side by side until the sheet is filled. If the image is too large or too small, you will have to edit it again.
Excel: insert background image as watermark
A normal background image in Excel is not visible when printing. If you want to print your table with a picture, insert it as a watermark:
- Click "Header and Footer" on the "Insert" tab.
- Click in an area in the header, depending on whether you want to insert the image on the left, center or right.
- Click on "Graphics" in the menu and select the image from your PC.
- After inserting, you will see the lettering "& graphic" in the header. Click anywhere on the worksheet to make the image visible.
- If the image is too large or too small, you can edit it. To do this, click again in the header and then in the menu on "Format graphic".
- Under "Size" you can set the height and width of the image. The image can be cropped under "Image".
- Confirm the changes with "OK". You can return to the normal view by switching to "Normal view" in the lower right corner. The picture is not visible here, but is displayed when printing.
On the next page we will show you how to adjust the print area in Excel.
