Excel: Find and hide duplicate rows - how it works
The larger your Excel document, the more difficult it is to find duplicate lines. But thanks to a special filter, you can find and hide duplicate lines almost automatically.
Find duplicate rows in Excel with special filters
The following example refers to MS Office 2010, but works similarly in other versions.
- First give each column a unique heading. Then click on the first cell of your table on the worksheet and go to the "Data" tab.
- In the ribbon, go to the "Sort and Filter" section and select the "Advanced" button.
- Then choose the "Filter list at the same place" option in the "Special filter" menu and activate the "No duplicates" button.
- Finally, confirm your details with "OK".
- The double cells are now hidden and you can simply show them again if necessary.
- Tip: You can also see how many duplicates Excel has found and hidden in the status bar.
On the next page we will show you how to hide individual lines in Excel.
