Excel: Write in a row with each other - how it works
If you write texts in your Excel lines, you cannot write them directly one below the other in a cell. We show you how to get two rows in one cell.
Write one below the other in an Excel cell
- Write the desired text in the respective cell and hold down the [Alt] key on the bottom left of the keyboard.
- Use the [Enter] key to jump to the next line, but remain in the same cell.
- You can put an unlimited number of rows in one cell. Simply repeat the key combination.
Write permanently in Excel cells with each other
If you want to write to each other more often in a cell, you can let the line break work automatically. This saves you the annoying key combination.
- Open Excel and simultaneously press the [Ctrl] and [1] keys.
- Then switch to the "Alignment" tab in the "Format cells" window.
- Under the "Text control" you will now find the "Line break" option.
- The change is accepted in Word by clicking the "OK" button.
- Also activate the option "Merge cells".
- If you now type a text in a cell, you will automatically continue writing on the next line as soon as the end of the cell is reached.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to lock and protect cells in Excel.
