Excel: hide and ignore errors - how it works
If the same errors occur repeatedly in Excel, you can hide them and ignore them. We present two options that you can combine with each other.
Hide and ignore errors in Excel
There are various errors in Excel. If a type of error occurs frequently, you can simply hide it with a rule. The following instructions work for the following Excel errors: # DIV / 0 !, #NV, #NAME ?, #NULL !, #ZAHL !, #BEZUG! and #VALUE !.
- First, there must be an error in Excel. Select the cell in which the error is present.
- Under the "Start" tab you will now find the "Styles" group.
- Click the "Conditional Formatting" button and select the "Manage Rules" option.
- Click New Rule and select Use Formula to Find Cells to Format.
- Enter the command "= IS ERROR (XX)" in the free line. Exchange the value XX with the name of the cell (eg C7).
- Click the "Format" button and select "Color" under the "Font" tab.
- If you close the two windows with "OK", the said error is always colored white so that it cannot be seen.
Excel error: hide green corners
If an error occurs in Excel, the cell is provided with a small green corner. The following instructions also solve this problem:
- Go to the "File" tab in the top left and select the "Options".
- Click the "Formulas" category on the left and locate the "Error Checking" section.
- Deactivate the option "Activate background error checking" here.
- Your settings are saved with the "OK" button. The error messages are no longer displayed.
