Excel: create function
There are many standard functions available in Excel. However, you can also create and use your own. We show you how to do this.
Create your own function in Excel
- In the first step, open Excel if you have not already done so.
- Click on "Extra"> "Macros" in the menu bar and open the "Visual Basic Editor".
- Then select "Insert"> "Module" in the menu bar.
- Enter your function here. Don't forget to add "Public Function * Function Name *" at the beginning and "End Function" at the end. You should not use umlauts or spaces in the function name.
- Now click on the diskette symbol in the toolbar to save the function.
- You can now access the function from the Formula Manager. Note, however, that the function is saved in the workbook. If you want to use it in another project, you have to copy it first.
