Excel camera function for a better overview: how it works
Secret functions are also hidden in Excel: with the camera, for example, you get a better overview of your document and create entire images of your workbooks. We show you how to activate the feature.
Activate hidden camera function in Excel - how it works
Microsoft removed the camera function with Excel 1997 from the standard view. The feature is still dormant in the program:
- Open Excel and click on the small arrow next to the save symbol (see photo).
- In the dropdown menu, choose the "Additional command" option. A new window is opening up.
- Look for "All commands" in the list under "Select commands".
- You will then find the "Camera" option in the list below. Mark this and click on "Add".
- If you save the changes with "OK", a small camera symbol appears next to the save area.
Secret feature for a better overview: Use the camera function in Excel
With the camera functions, you can record areas of a spreadsheet and show it elsewhere in the folder as a duplicate.
- To do this, mark the desired area with the mouse and click on the camera symbol.
- Now click on the position where the data should be shown.
- Excel then creates a duplicate of your data, which you can move as required and enlarge and reduce at the edges. The copy depends on the original data: If you change something in the table, the inserted duplicate also changes.
