Excel: Calculate nth root and co-tangent
If you want to use Excel to calculate the nth root of a number or to determine the co-tangent of an angle, you will find the relevant instructions here.
Excel: Calculate nth root
Excel does not offer any special functions for the task described. However, the task can be described mathematically quite simply and can be traced back to another function:
- The nth root means nothing other than the 1 / nth power of a value. You can therefore use the following function to calculate the nth root of the value x:
- "= Power (x, 1 / n)"
- Alternatively, this works with "= x ^ (1 / n)"
Calculate Co-Tangens with Excel
You can trace the calculation of the co-tangent back to the tangent. The co-tangent of a value is the same as 1 divided by the tangent of that value. However, when calculating, you must always keep in mind that Excel expects the angular arguments in radians.
- To calculate the co-tangent of an angle "a" in degrees, enter the function "= 1 / TAN (ARC DIMENSION (a))".
- Alternatively, calculate the co-tangent with "= 1 / TAN (a * PI () / 180)".
