Excel: Do not round - so switch off the function
Excel often rounds off your entered values automatically. You can turn off this help, although there is actually no "non-rounding" function. In this practical tip, we will show you how to make Excel stop rounding for individual cells, rows or columns.
Excel: No more rounding - so switch off the function
If Excel rounds automatically, then only when the decimal places are displayed. If you click on one of the cells again, the unrounded value appears in the formula bar at the top. You can change the display of decimal places for individual cells, rows or columns. That's how it works:
- First you have to mark the required fields.
- Then click on the small arrow in the lower right corner under "Number" in the start menu.
- With "Numbers" you can now select in the "Number" category how many decimal places should be rounded.
Switch off the "lap" function
With Excel, you can also use the "Round" formula. When rounding, use the formula = rounding (number, number_digits). You can also use a cell for "Number", such as A2, and apply the formula to the entire column or row. To switch off rounding for individual cells, you have to change the function for these cells:
- Click on the cell and remove the complete function, except for the cell link. For example, there is only "= A2" (without quotation marks).
- Depending on the cell formatting, you must now, as described in the first paragraph, change the automatic rounding of the displayed value.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to round up and down the time in Excel.
