Excel: create an organization chart - so it'll work
With an organization chart you can, among other things, represent a company structure. We'll show you how to create an organization chart in Excel.
Excel: How to create an organization chart
- Open the "SmartArt" tab in Excel.
- There you will find the "Hierarchy" option in the "Insert SmartArt graphics" area. This is how organization charts are called in Excel.
- Click on it and select the design you want.
Format the organization chart in Excel
After you have created the organization chart, you can fill it with content in the next step and adjust it.
- You can create new fields by pressing the plus symbol in the text area window.
- You can change the structure by moving the indentation of the elements. The further the slot is, the deeper the element slides in the hierarchy.
- If you click on a certain field in your organization chart, you can move it as you like, making the distances between the levels clearer.
- With a right click on the entire frame you can change the colors and shapes of all elements. If you right-click on just one element, you can color and format each one individually.
