If Excel no longer calculates, this is mostly due to incorrect settings. We'll show you how to solve the problem and get Excel to do the math again.
Excel: Automatic calculation deactivated
- Click on the "File" tab in the top left and select the "Options".
- If you switch to the "Formulas" category on the left, you will find the "Calculation options" above.
- Activate the "Automatic" option under "Workbook calculation".
- Click the "OK" button to save your changes. Excel should now calculate again.
Solution: Excel no longer calculates
- Go to the "Home" tab above and look for the "Number" category. In the selection menu at the top, choose the "Standard" option.
- Alternatively, you can start the calculation manually. Simply press the [F9] key on the keyboard to start the calculation automatically.
- Go to the "Data" tab above and you will find the "Connections" category on the left. Click on the "Update All" button here. This also solves the problem.
