Excel does not save - it can be because of that
Excel may have problems saving a file for the following reasons:
- You no longer have access to the original location. This can be the case especially with network drives or USB sticks.
- Missing or insufficient access rights, such as with a guest account, can also be the cause.
- The firewall or your antivirus may also block spreadsheet communication. Saving is then not possible.
- A file name that is too long can also be responsible for this problem.
- Maybe there is not enough space.
- In the next paragraph, we explain what you can do about these problems.
Excel does not save - problem solving
- Due to missing or insufficient access rights, you should try to save the file in another location. To do this, click on "File"> "Save As" and select any other location. It is best to test another drive.
- For a network drive, you should make sure that it is properly connected. You can find this information in the task bar or in the "Network and Sharing Center" of the "Control Panel".
- To use Excel, briefly switch off your antivirus and firewall and save the document again. If this resolves the problem, you should add an exception to the Windows Firewall.
- Make sure that the file name is short and contains as few special characters as possible.
- Make more space on your PC by deleting or uninstalling data from the storage location. If your Windows hard drive is full, another practical tip will help you.
