Excel: sum product - how it works
If you want to multiply the sum of several matrices in Excel and then sum them up, you should use the sum product. You can find out exactly how this works in this practical tip.
Sum product in Excel - that's how it's done
- First, you need two (or more) columns in Excel that are filled with numbers.
- It should be noted that all columns have the same number of numbers, otherwise the function will not work properly.
- Then find a free column and enter "= SUMMER PRODUCT ()".
- Enter the names of the columns in brackets. For example, if the first values are in cells D1 to D4, the formula is "= SUMMER PRODUCT (D1: D4)".
- So that the remaining values are also taken into account, you must enter the other names of the columns after this information. If the other values are, for example, from F1 to F4, the entire formula is as follows: "= SUM PRODUCT (D1: D4; F1: F4)".
- Note that there is a semicolon between the column specifications. Otherwise the formula cannot work correctly.
