Excel: Freeze table areas

If you create a very large table in Excel, it can be useful to fix certain areas. For example, you can fix the top row of a table so that you can always keep an eye on it - even when you are looking at row 100. We'll tell you how it works.
Office 2013, 2010, 2007: Freeze rows and columns in Excel
- Click the View tab at the top.
- To the right you will find the "Lock window" button under the Window category.
- If you click on this, three options open. Fix either the whole window, the top row or the first column (see picture).
Office 2003: Freeze the first line
In this case, Excel fixes the lines above a selected line. For example, select row 2 to fix row 1:
- Select the line below the line to be fixed by clicking on its number on the left.
- Click on "Window" at the top of the menu and select "Lock window".
