Excel: insert if-then function
The if-then function in Excel is one of the more basic functions. In it you can formulate a condition that must be met in order to derive a certain rule. We'll tell you how to set up the function.
Structure of an if-then function in Excel
The structure of the if-then function is relatively simple and always the same. The formula for this is: IF (condition; then; otherwise). If the condition is true, then the then statement is executed. If the condition does not occur, the else statement should be executed. The instructions can be as complicated as you like, so you can nest if-then functions.
Simple example of if-then
In the picture you can see a simple example of the if-then function. If the number next to the selected field is greater than 5, "Greater than 5" is displayed. Otherwise, "Less than 5" is displayed.
