Excel: convert rows to columns
If you have created a larger table in Excel and later want to convert and swap the rows into columns, you can do this with just a few clicks - but Microsoft hides the process behind the cryptic name "transpose". That's how it works.
How to convert rows to columns in Excel 2010
- First mark all the data to be converted. Then copy them with a right click and "Copy" or the key combination [Ctrl] and [c].
- Now you have to right-click on the target cell, which opens a context menu. There you will also find the "Insert content" option (see picture). Clicking the left mouse button opens a small window for further settings.
- Leave all radio buttons there as set, but tick the "Transpose" check box at the bottom right of the window and press "OK". Rows and columns are already exchanged.
