Excel: Freeze rows and columns - Open the "View" tab
Clicking on "Freeze window" opens a dropdown menu. Select the desired option here.
The fixed area is marked with a thin, black line.
If you want to fix individual rows or columns in Excel, you can proceed as follows:
- In the "View" tab you will find the menu item "Freeze window".
- If you click on it, a selection opens. If you want to fix the first column or the top row, select the relevant item.
- The fixation is then - as can be seen in the picture - marked by a slightly thicker black line.
- You can remove an existing fixation in the same menu. Instead of "Freeze window", the command "Remove fixation" appears in the submenu. All locks are then released.
Freeze multiple columns or rows
If you want to fix several columns or rows, this is not a problem, mark the one behind or below. An example:
- Select the column "A" to "E".
- In the dropdown menu "Freeze window" select the item "Freeze window".
- Columns "A" to "E" are now fixed.
- This is exactly how it works with the lines. If you marked row number five, columns one to four are frozen.
