Excel: count cells with content - how it works
In this practical tip, we explain how to count the cells with content in Excel. We show you three different options.
Count the number of cells with content
If you want to count the number of cells with content in Excel, select the following function:
- Write "= NUMBER2 ([Value1]; [Value2]; ...)" in a cell.
- It is best to mark the area in which the cells are to be counted.
- The cells with content are then counted automatically and the total is displayed.
Count the number of cells with text
If you want to count the number of cells that contain text, use the following formula:
- The formula "= COUNTIF (range;" * ")" counts all cells that have text.
- For the area, simply mark the position in the table that is to be counted.
Add up numbers in cells
Of course, you can also add up the numbers in different cells. To do this, use the "= SUM (range)" formula.
