Excel: Convert cells from pixels to cm
By default, Excel does not calculate in cm but in pixels. We'll show you how to convert the units and set the cell height and width directly in pixels.
Convert Excel cells from pixels to cm
If you do not want to convert the values annoying, you will find instructions in the second paragraph on how to activate the Excel cells automatically. Alternatively, change the values manually:
- Row Height: Excel specifies the row height in both inches and "points". The following applies: 1 point = 0.035277778 cm. If the line is to be 1.5 cm high, you must select 1.5 / 0.035277778 = 42.52.
- Column width: Unfortunately, you have to calculate the width a bit more elaborately here, because Excel calculates the points differently depending on the font. However, the program always prints in the same resolution. Therefore, the following applies here: 37.8 pixels = 1 cm.
- You can use the Windows calculator so that you don't have to pull out the calculator all the time. To do this, press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens. Enter "calc" there and confirm with "OK".
Excel: Specify dimensions for rows and columns in cm
- Switch to the "View" tab at the top and select the "Page layout" as the display format on the left.
- Select the desired rows or columns and right-click on their letters or numbers.
- Then select the "Row height" or "Column width" option in the context menu.
- Here you can enter the desired exact height or width in centimeters. This saves you the constant conversions.
To convert the data faster, you can open two Excel tables side by side.
