Create EXE file: You have to pay attention to this
EXE files are executable files on the computer. If you want to create your own EXE file on the PC, there are a few things to keep in mind. You can find out all about this in this practical tip.
Create an EXE file - this is how you proceed
- First press the key combination [Windows] + [R] and enter "Iexpress.exe" in the input field. Confirm with [Enter].
- In the first window, select "Create new Self Extraction Directive file" and confirm with "Next".
- Since an EXE file is an executable file, select "Extract files and run installation command" in the next window. Confirm the process with "Next".
- Then you can give your program a name, which you also use with "Next".
- Alternatively, you can specify in the next step that the user must confirm the installation. Otherwise leave the setting like this and continue with "Next".
- You should see your license agreement before the installation begins. You can now bring these into your program by clicking on "Display a license" and adding your license agreement in "txt" format with "Browse". Continue with "Next".
- Now specify which programs should be installed as soon as your exe file is started. To do this, click on "Add" and then confirm with "Next".
- In the last step you can define the name of your exe file again and create your exe file by clicking on "Next".
Note that these files can often also be malicious. In our next practical tip, we will show you how you can block exe files with the firewall.
