External hard drive not assigned - you can do that
If your external hard drive is not assigned, it may not have been correctly recognized by the PC. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do about it.
External hard drive not assigned - what to do?
- First connect the external hard drive to another USB port and then try again.
- The cable may be defective. Therefore, replace it once to check this.
- If you still see the error, go to "Control Panel"> "Administrative Tools"> "Computer Management".
- Click on "Disk Management" on the left and wait for the list to be created.
- Now you have to right-click on your external hard drive and select "Change drive letter and paths".
- In the next window click on "Add" and select a free drive letter from the list.
- Save the changes with "OK".
