Use Face ID in the dark - the best tips
With Face ID you can unlock iPhone X at a glance. In this practical tip, we explain whether the feature works in the dark and what you should know about facial recognition technology.
Use Face ID in the dark - no problem
- The Face ID allows the iPhone X to be unlocked simply by looking at the display.
- The co-processor of the Apple chip A11 Bionic calculates a mathematical model of your face.
- Your face is captured by infrared. That's why Face ID also works in the dark: no light source is required.
- On the contrary: Face ID recognizes your face even better in the dark than in strong brightness, such as in direct sunlight.
- So if you have a problem with Face ID, it's probably not because it's too dark. Incidentally, you are not instructed on facial recognition. However, the iPhone X can also be unlocked in the usual way, for example via code. You can also disable Face ID.
- Incidentally, the feature is only available on the new iPhone, older models cannot do this.
