Deactivate Facebook account - how it works
You no longer want to be an active member of the largest social network and deactivate your Facebook account? With just a few clicks, you can shut down your profile. The entire account can also be deleted. Facebook, however, has hidden the corresponding function well. We'll show you how to find them anyway.
How to deactivate your Facebook account
If you are not sure whether you want to use Facebook again in the near future, you can only deactivate your profile instead of completely deleting it. Your data remains stored in this way, but can no longer be viewed by anyone.
- Log in to Facebook and click on the settings icon (gear) at the top right of the screen. A menu appears in which you select the "Account settings" item. Now go to the "Security" menu item on the left of the screen. There you will see the "Deactivate your account" link at the bottom.
- Facebook is once again pressing hard on the lacrimal gland: You will be shown a few friends who you will probably miss incredibly on Facebook. If you are not impressed by this, you can now enter the reason for the account deactivation. You will also be asked if you really want to stop receiving emails from Facebook. You should definitely check this box, otherwise Facebook will send you regular emails so that you can be active again.
- Finally click on the "Confirm" button and your account is deactivated. If you decide to reactivate it, a normal Facebook login is sufficient.
Permanently delete Facebook account
If you want to permanently delete your Facebook account, you will find the help you are looking for in the settings of your profile under "Deactivate, delete and put your account in a memorial state". Here
- Now click the link "How can I permanently delete my account?" on. In the second paragraph of this article you will find the link "fill out this form". Behind this is the link that you can use to delete the account.
- Click "Delete my account", then enter your password and the combination of characters shown and your account is history. So that it stays that way, you must not log in to Facebook for the next two weeks. If this happens, the deletion will be revoked.
