With Facebook, data protection is not a top priority, which is why you should set the data protection options on your iPhone accordingly. As on the website, the data protection settings are somewhat hidden. You can find it here:
Data protection is hidden under the account settings
If you open the menu in the Facebook app, you will see the Account settings item at the bottom. There you will find all possible settings for your account. It is definitely worth clicking through all the points, but the most important are the following two points:
- Under the "Privacy" menu you will find items such as "Who can find you on Facebook?" or "Who can see your posts?" If you do not want to share your data with strangers, you can click on each of these points and check the "Friends" option. Now the respective information is only shared with your friends and not with the whole world. If you like to share information and posts with the whole Facebook community, you can click on "All". If you want to make certain things invisible, click on "Only me".
- Under "Chronicle and markings" in the account settings, you can choose who can see whether you have been marked in a posting and who can view your chronicle. Again, you can choose between "Everyone", "Only I", "Friends" or the people from your lists.
The practical tip was carried out under iOS 6.1.3 based on the Facebook app version 6.0.
