Facebook: cover picture does not upload - what to do?
After much thought, you decided on a new Facebook cover picture - but Facebook does not upload it. We show you what you can do about it:
Facebook: Browser does not upload cover picture
First, check if you can't easily solve the problem.
- Log out of your Facebook account and close your browser. Then restart it, log into a new session on Facebook and test whether the cover image upload now works.
- If your regular browser continues to refuse: Test the upload using an alternative browser, e.g. Firefox or Chrome.
Facebook: File or server problems prevent cover photo upload
If you can rule out an error in your browser, you should take a closer look at the picture yourself:
- Check if your cover photo is too large. High-resolution image files can take several minutes to upload, which mainly depends on your internet connection and its load. Try uploading an image file that is less than 2 MB in size.
- Sometimes Facebook has problems with upload requests. If you're not in a hurry, wait a few hours and then try uploading your cover photo again.
The rescue: via a detour to the Facebook cover picture
If none of the solutions work for you, you can upload your cover photo via a detour:
- Go to "Photos" and "Add Photos" in your Facebook profile. Upload the file with your cover picture and publish it with a click on "Post".
- Then click on the picture and then on the bottom navigation bar on "Options" and "Use as cover picture".
- Position your new cover picture as desired and finally click on "Save changes".
