Travel time home: Deactivate notification on Android and iOS
The travel time to your home is automatically displayed on Android and iPhone. You can deactivate the notification if you do not need it. We show you how to do this.
Android: Deactivate travel time home
If you have activated Google Now on your Android smartphone, your mobile phone uses Google Maps and current traffic data to determine your journey home. Using GPS, Google Now always knows where you are and remembers your habits: for example, if you always leave work at a specific time, it displays the notification with your travel time. If you do not want this, you can switch off the message.
- To do this, press the home button on your smartphone and swipe up to open Google Now. Depending on the smartphone, a different gesture such as a double tap on the home button may also be necessary. Alternatively, open Google Now using the app icon.
- There, tap on the icon with the three dots at the top right and select the "Settings".
- In the "Services" section, choose the sub-item "My day".
- Deactivate the entry "commute to work".
- If you close Google Now, the notification will no longer appear automatically in the future.
iPhone and iPad: Deactivate travel time home
As of iOS 7, a notification with the required travel time home appears automatically on iOS. The feature here is not based on a separate service like Google Now, but is deeply integrated into the system. You can deactivate it anyway:
- To do this, start the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- There, in the "Privacy" tab, tap the "Location Services" entry.
- Select the "System Services" option at the bottom of the page.
- Tap the entry "Frequent places" and deactivate the corresponding option. Your iDevice will no longer remember your visited places and therefore cannot calculate the travel time.
