Creating fake pictures - the best tips
You can easily create fake pictures yourself. We'll show you how in our practical tip. These instructions refer to the free image editing program Gimp.
Fake pictures due to removed elements
Depending on how uniform the background is, elements can be easily removed from an image. In the example, we make the top of the Berlin television tower disappear.
- Zoom in on the object you want to remove. The fastest way to do this is to hold down the Ctrl key and the mouse wheel.
- Select the cloning tool (stamp) and hold down the Ctrl key and click anywhere in the background. This should look like it would look behind the object.
- Click on the object at the same height as previously selected and paint over the object.
Create fake images: add elements
For our example, we take the same photo and insert the person in the front as a giant.
- Use the free selection tool (lasso) to select the person.
- Copy the selection with Ctrl + C and paste it again (with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V). It will look like nothing has happened, but the selection has been inserted in the same place. It appears in the level selection as a new level.
- With the scaling tool (Ctrl + T) you can drag the selection to the desired size. If you hold down Ctrl, the aspect ratios are retained. If the grid does not disappear, press Enter to scale.
- Move the selection as desired. Now click on "New Layer" in the selection. The giant is now saved on a new level.
- Now set the new layer to low opacity in the layer window and select areas from the lower layer that should be in the foreground.
- Create a new layer with the foreground elements and remove the transparency settings.
