If Fallout 3 does not start, in most cases you can quickly solve this problem yourself. Find out in this practical tip what you can do in this case.
Fallout 3 does not start - what to do?
If you can no longer start the game, you should try the following tips:
- Since Fallout 3 is a little older, it is not designed for PCs with more than two processor cores.
- Fallout 3 is also not playable on Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10. However, you can try the following tricks.
- First switch to "My Documents" on your PC and open the "MyGames" directory.
- Double click on "Fallout 3" and open the file "fallout.ini" with the editor.
- In the file, change the value of the "bUseThreadedA" property from "0" to "1".
- You must also insert the following line again: "iNumHWThreads = 2".
- Save the document as usual and start the game again.
Another solution: Fallout 3 does not start
- If it still won't start, right-click the Fallout 3 file and choose Properties.
- Check "Run as administrator" and "Run program in compatibility mode". Select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" from the list and save with "OK".
- Now start the game. If this still doesn't work, reinstall the game on your PC. However, after uninstalling, manually delete any files and folders that are left.
- If nothing else helps, you can install Windows XP in a virtual environment and play Fallout 3 there.
