It is known that there are a lot of wrong reviews on Amazon and filtering the fakes is not always easy. Sometimes you can recognize it by the wording of the rating, but there are many more, and above all, faster ways to filter out the counterfeits.
How to unmask false product reviews on Amazon
Shopping online is fun and very convenient. Unfortunately, visiting the online shop has its pitfalls. In contrast to the real world, there is no way to examine the quality of the respective article. We are solely dependent on what the manufacturer promises and that its product evaluation is not necessarily objective is in the nature of things.
- Therefore, many interested parties like to use the ratings of other customers. The manufacturers also know that, of course, and they never tire of providing us with the wrong reviews so that we can buy the corresponding product.
- According to Amazon's own statements, it is also not exactly happy about the fake reviews, which lead the good customer support system to absurdity. But obviously Amazon is not really able to successfully prevent fake reviews, because every fifth product review is supposed to be fake. Overall, it is suspected that over 20 percent of customer reviews in online shops are fake.
- A software company has now set itself the goal of putting an end to the spook and separating the fakes from the real customer reviews.
ReviewMeta - this is how the program checks the Amazon reviews
The online service ReviewMeta has started to separate the fakes from the real reviews on Amazon, so that you get a much more objective shopping aid when shopping. ReviewMeta analyzes the reviews of millions of products sold on Amazon and new ones are added every day.
- With your software, the programmers filter out completely fake reviews just like the reviews of customers who have received the respective product free of charge. The program uses various factors to investigate whether the author and thus his review are credible or whether it is an order evaluation.
- For example, it examines whether it is a verified rating or a non-verified rating. The customer verified that the product was purchased from Amazon. Otherwise, the evaluator may have purchased the product elsewhere, but need not.
- It is also examined whether the customer is giving a rating for the first time. Furthermore, how many reviews and how regularly the customer rates products on Amazon. And of course the tendency of the respective reviews. For example, if someone constantly gives good ratings and distributes five stars inflationarily, he is either a very positive person or someone who can be bought.
- The length of the ratings and tell-tale formulations, which Otto normal consumers probably hardly use, are also included in the analysis. Among other things, many formulations are suspect, which can also be found in the manufacturer's descriptions. If the brand name is mentioned very often in the rating, this could also make you think.
- It is also conspicuous if the supposed customer has given a complete push to a wide variety of products in one day. The same applies if a product was reviewed more than average in one day.
