What to do if you get the error message "Incorrect authorization for Windows Search directories" in Windows? You can find all the information in this practical tip.
Wrong permission for Windows Search directories - what to do?
- First enter the search term "Search" in the Windows search and open the tool "Detect and fix problems with Windows Search".
- In the next window, click on "Advanced" and mark the option "Apply repairs automatically". Start the wizard with "Next". Wait for it to finish.
- If the problem persists afterwards, try creating a new user account. Log in there and try again using the Windows search.
- It can also help if you take a closer look at the "Indexing Options" from the "Control Panel" and make sure that all relevant folders are available here.
- If you receive this error message in Outlook, switch again to the "Indexing Options" and switch there to the "Advanced" tab. Here the option "east" must be activated under "File types".
- In most cases, incorrect access rights cause this problem. Therefore, go through the folders specified in the indexing options and right-click on them.
- In the "Properties" you have to grant "Full access" to all administrators or just yourself in the "Security" tab.
