Fake the wrong internet address: how it works
In order to surf the Internet as anonymously and securely as possible, the wrong Internet address can be faked in just a few steps. In the following practical tip we will show you how to set up a proxy server in Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer to disguise your IP address.
Pretend wrong address: Why a proxy server?
The website utrace shows the location calculated by the IP address on a map. If you want to prevent this type of localization, you can use a proxy server. This acts as a kind of interface between your PC and the server controlled by the URL and thus overrides your own IP address. You can find out more about "Localize IP address" here.
Surf the web anonymously with a proxy server
A really good proxy server is often difficult to find because the speed depends on the location of the server and the current load. Visit xroxy.com for an updated list of suitable servers.
Pretend Internet address with Mozilla Firefox
In the Firefox settings you will find the required fields for the proxy server:
- Open Mozilla Firefox Settings via the orange Firefox field in the top left corner.
- Navigate to the "Network" grid under "Advanced".
- Clicking "Settings" opens the connection settings of Mozilla Firefox.
- Activate the "Manual proxy configuration" option.
- Here you can enter the IP address and port previously searched for on Xroxy.com and activate it by selecting "Use this proxy server for all protocols".
Mask Internet address with Google Chrome
Of course you can also surf anonymously with the Google web browser:
- Clicking on the three bars in the upper right corner will take you to the "Settings".
- Under "Advanced Settings" you will find the "Change Proxy Settings" button in the "Network" menu item. You choose this.
- In the Internet options under the Connections tab, click on "LAN settings".
- Check "Proxy Server" and enter the IP address and port previously found at Xroxy.com. Confirm your entry with "OK".
Pretend wrong IP address with Internet Explorer
Although Internet Explorer has become the number one enemy of the network due to strong competition and security problems, proxy servers can also be set here for anonymous surfing.
- Select the Internet options under the "Tools" grid and open the Connections tab.
- You can activate the "Proxy server for LAN" option by clicking on "LAN settings" at the end of the list.
- As with Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, enter the proxy data you selected earlier.
Is the wrong address working? How to check your settings
On utrace you can check whether your location has changed after the proxy setting.
