Family Safety: Activate web filtering - how it works
In this practical tip, we show you how to activate web filtering in Windows Live Family Safety.
Enable web filtering in Family Safety
By installing the free Windows Live Family Safety service, you receive comprehensive protection of minors especially for the web for your offspring. You can use this program and a website to control your child's activities and, if necessary, make selected websites inaccessible. This way you can prevent your offspring from being exposed to content that is harmful to young people.
- Start the Family Safety website on your PC and log in with your Microsoft account.
- Now go to "Edit Settings" for the web filter under your child's name.
- Next, click "Web Filtering Lists".
- Add or write in the text field "//" your web address of the website that you want to block or allow and then confirm your entry.
- Select "Web filtering" - "Activate web filtering" to set the filter level for your child individually using the slider. Move the slider all the way up for the largest restriction and down for the lowest restriction.
If you want your kids to only sit on the PC for a certain amount of time, you can also set a time limit with just a few clicks under Windows 7.
