Far Cry 5 offers with the Map Editor a versatile tool for maps according to your taste, which you can try alone or with friends. We give you an overview of how the editor works.
Far Cry 5 Map Editor: functions and objects
Ubisoft placed great emphasis on a large selection of objects and modes when implementing the Far Cry 5 Map Editor. So you can initially choose between the game mode and terrain type, which you can adjust in the editor as desired. In the game modes you can choose between Assault, Journey, Outpost, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Bounty Hunt. These are played in either solo, co-op or multiplayer mode. Other highlights of the editor are:
- Objects : Over 10, 000 objects, NPCs, animals, plants and weapons are included in the editor. These come not only from the Far Cry series, but also from Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed Black Flag and Assassin's Creed Unity. You may want to pack French elements into a Caribbean setting with typical Far Cry weapons.
- Multiplayer : Multiplayer maps can be used by 12 players together. So you can let off steam with your friends.
- No limits : The editor has numerous options that allow customization in a variety of ways. You can implement concepts such as flying islands yourself.
- Sharing : After finishing, you can save and upload the map. This allows other players to find, download and play them.
Make maps according to your own ideas
If you want to create a map yourself, first open the Far Cry 5 Arcade mode in the main menu and select the editor there. As soon as you have decided on one of the game modes and the corresponding terrain types, you can get started with the editor. The implementation of a map works as follows:
- After loading the new map project, you will see an empty field for editing. You can now begin to fill the map with terrain and work on it according to your inspiration.
- You can raise and lower the terrain, provide it with large rocks, water, sand and numerous plants. Even light sources that create an atmospheric map can be mentioned here.
- Regarding the terrain design, the editor is reminiscent of previous parts of the series and will therefore please veterans directly.
- After the terrain design, take care of the placement of the required items, loadouts, drop points, NPCs and animals in the world. These depend on the selected mode and must be integrated.
- The gameplay modifiers allow you to precisely define the rules for the map. These include, for example, a countdown to the end of the match, inexhaustible ammunition, no damage in the event of a fall or a deactivated regeneration of health. This way the game stays exciting.
- Finally, you have to take a picture using the editor toolbox. This is used as a thumbnail for the view when browsing for maps. Then it can finally be uploaded and played.
