Fix error 905 in the Google Play Store - Here's how
Error 905 often occurs with Samsung Galaxy smartphones in particular if you want to download a (large) app from the Play Store. This practical tip shows you how to fix the error.
Error 905 - Remove updates from the Play Store
For the first approach, you should uninstall the Play Store updates.
- To do this, go to the "Settings" of your smartphone.
- Here you scroll down to the point "Applications" and change there to the option "Application Manager".
- In the list of installed apps look for the entry "Google Play Store".
- Now tap the "Uninstall updates" button.
- Then restart your smartphone. Most of the time, the mistake is history.
Fix error 905: Uninstall Google Play Store
If the error message still persists, you should uninstall the Play Store and then add it again manually. Unfortunately, uninstalling the Play Store no longer works with some (not rooted) devices.
- If you can uninstall the Play Store, go back to "Settings" and from there to "Application Manager".
- Here you will find the "Uninstall" option from the Google Play Store.
- Then you have to add the Play Store again. You can download the current APK from the Google Play Store here and then install it manually.
Android error 905 - delete download manager data
In some cases, it also helps to remove the download manager's data.
- Switch to the "All" tab in the "Application Manager".
- Look for the "Download Manager" application here.
- Then click on the "Clear data" and "Clear cache" button.
- Restart your phone and try to download an app from the Play Store.
Fix error code 905: Restore Google Play Store and Google Play services
Finally, you can still try to delete all data from the Google Play Store and the Google Play services to fix the error 905.
- Switch back to "Settings" and then to "Application Manager".
- Scroll down to the "Google Play Store".
- Here, tap on "Force stop" and "Deactivate" as well as on the buttons "Clear data" and "Clear cache".
- Then go back to "Application Manager" and select the "Google Play Services" option.
- Click here also on "Deactivate" and "Clear cache".
- Restart your smartphone.
- Now you can reactivate the "Google Play Store" and the "Google Play Services". Error 905 should no longer occur.
