You can control the Sony Alpha 6000 remotely in different ways. In this article, we show what possibilities there are for the popular entry-level camera.
Sony Alpha 6000: remote trigger on the smartphone
A great feature of the Sony Alpha cameras is the remote control via app on the smartphone. We show you step by step how this works:
- First install the "PlayMemories Mobile" app on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
- Then start the camera and search for "Application list" in the system settings. There, go to the "Smart remote control" app.
- The camera is now setting up a WLAN network. Connect your cell phone to this network using the access data displayed.
- When the WiFi connection is open, open the "PlayMemories Mobile" app on the smartphone. After a brief initialization, you will now see the image of your camera on the cell phone display and can take photos using the record button.
How to use the camera with radio remote control
- You can use the Sony Alpha cameras with a classic remote release that is connected via a micro USB cable. Remote triggers from the ayex brand, for example, are popular on Amazon.
- With a radio remote release, first insert the batteries and connect the transmitter and receiver as described in the operating instructions. Then slide the receiver onto the hot shoe of the Alpha 6000 and connect the micro USB cable to the corresponding connector on the left side of the camera.
- If you now press the shutter release button on the transmitter, the camera should take a photo. If that doesn't work yet, it can help to switch the camera and remote control off and on again.
