Subtitles for the hearing-impaired and deaf are offered in public, private and television in news, films, series, live broadcasts and other formats. So people with a hearing impairment can follow the spoken language in written form as a text overlay in the lower part of the screen without barriers. We will explain how to switch on subtitles on your TV using classic teletext (TTX) or digital subtitles (DVB).
How to switch on classic subtitles via teletext / teletext when watching TV
- Take your remote control for the television and press the button for the teletext. This is usually marked with "Info", "TTX" or "Teletext".
- The teletext page appears. Enter the corresponding number of pages for subtitles there. The teletext page is searched automatically. You can see which side you have to choose from the table in the picture.
- And now you should be able to see and read the subtitle.
- If you want to switch off the subtitle again, press the "Exit" button.
How to switch on digital subtitles when watching TV via DVB TV
- Take your remote control for the TV and press the digital subtitle button. This is usually marked with "Subtitle" or "SUB".
- The subtitle is automatically displayed as text in the lower screen.
- To switch off the subtitle, press the subtitle button again.
- Tip: If you want the subtitle to be shown automatically whenever it is available, simply leave the function activated - even if you switch.
