TV problem: no sound via HDMI - what to do?
If you have connected a laptop to your television via HDMI, the problem sometimes arises that no sound is output. In most cases, however, the error is found quickly. We show you how to do it.
TV does not play sound via HDMI - here's how to do it:
First of all, you should make sure that you have connected the cable correctly and that there is no defect in the cable itself. Also check if the TV may be muted.
- You also need the right input source on your TV. If this does not automatically select the connected HDMI device, you should manually switch the signal source to the corresponding HDMI input.
- If the picture is now displayed but no sound is played, the problem is usually with the settings of the connected device - for example, the laptop.
- You can now easily change the playback device under Windows.
- To do this, right-click on the loudspeaker symbol in the task bar at the bottom right and select "Playback devices" (see picture).
- The TV should now appear in the list as a connected HDMI device. Make a right click here and choose "Select as default device".
