Hard drive does not boot - so you fix the problem
If the hard drive does not boot, many causes can be responsible. You can read what you can do about this in this practical tip.
Hard drive does not boot - what to do?
- Try to use the Windows start help: To do this, restart your PC and press the F8 key several times before the Windows logo appears. Then follow the wizard's instructions.
- Alternatively, you can also try to repair the Windows installation using the Windows CD: To do this, insert the disk into the drive and boot from it. To do this, you must press any key when "Press any key to boot from CD / DVD" appears.
- Select the item "System repair" here. Here you can repair Windows with "System Restore", for example.
- Alternatively, you should take a closer look at the hard disk and the components.
Check hard disk and components
To inspect your hard drive, you have to look inside the PC. Be sure to pull out the power plug beforehand to avoid electric shock.
- Make sure that the hard disk is firmly seated and that the connections or plugs are seated correctly.
- After that, you should take a look at the cables: Check whether they are still intact or have defects.
- If the latter is the case, you should replace the affected cables as soon as possible.
- If our tips did not help you, the defect may be more serious. Replacing the hard drive is the only solution here.
