Hard disk space is missing - this may be the reason
If you lack hard disk space, it is usually several gigabytes. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Hard disk space missing: How to check it
- If you press the [Windows] + [E] keys at the same time, the Explorer opens.
- Right click on your hard drive and select "Properties".
- Here you can see the free, used and total hard disk space.
- Compare these values with the free software TreeSize Free.
Hard disk space is missing
- Software: Various functions, such as system recovery, take up a lot of storage space. In most cases, this is not visible through Windows or software such as TreeSize. Other programs such as backup software store its files "under the radar". The working memory can also take up a few gigabytes.
- Defragment: If Windows has "swallowed" some of the memory, you should defragment the hard disk. Open the properties of the hard disk as in the first paragraph and open the function under the "Tools" tab.
- Error check: You will also find the "Error check" function there. The system is thus analyzed and repaired if necessary.
- Note: Manufacturers always trick when specifying the hard disk space. If the hard disk has a memory of 500 GB, usually less than 450 GB are available. Here is a little trick during the calculation. This means that all computers lack at least seven percent of memory.
