Install public transport: How to download the app
You can no longer install the public transport app for German local and long-distance traffic via the Google Play Store. We'll show you how to get the app on your smartphone anyway.
Download the public transport app: kicked out by Google
The Publi app has been available for free in the Google Play Store for several years. The app accesses the services of several regional and national regional and long-distance transport companies and can therefore find the right connections throughout Germany.
- However, Google has now removed the application. As a reason, the developer was only shown the keyword "Payment", although the app is completely free and does not solicit donations.
- In the meantime it has turned out that this was a mistake on the part of Google. However, Google has not yet released the app again.
- So far it is unclear whether and when this will happen. If you have installed the app on your mobile phone, you can use the application as usual. For a new installation, you currently have to take a small detour, which we will explain to you in the next paragraph.
Instructions: Download and install the Open app manually
- Open the following website of the public relations developer, there you can download the APK file of the app.
- If you tap on "Download / Install" in the fourth line, the APK file will be downloaded. You can then open the file and the app will automatically update in the background.
- In most cases, you must first allow installation from "sources of unknown origin". Your smartphone will usually direct you to the right setting.
- If this is not the case, open the "Settings" app and activate the "Unknown sources" option in the "Security" category.
- Important: For security reasons, you should deactivate the option after installation.
