Filezilla is a good FTP client that you can use to access all of your server data. There are also many alternatives that offer similar features. We present the three best in more detail in this article.
Filezilla alternative: WinSHP for Windows
The free Filezilla alternative "WinSHP" is designed for secure SSL connections. The functions are similar to those of FileZilla.
- In contrast to the well-known FTP service, "WinSHP" is perfectly integrated into the Windows operating system: Many functions, such as the properties page for folders, which contain information such as size and modification data, appear familiar. In contrast to Windows Explorer, here you work with two columns: In one you will find your local files, in the other you can set up an FTP server. Then drag and drop files and folders between the directories.
- Thanks to sophisticated additional features, you can work even more effectively: a powerful search function finds both local and remote files. Using various tabs, you can also quickly switch between several directories.
- Also of particular interest are the many plugins that are available for the "Total Commander". In this way, you can adapt the tool perfectly to your needs.
ForkLift: FTP client and more for the Mac
Mac OS users don't have to do without a good Filezilla alternative either. With "ForkLift" you get a comprehensive and secure tool with which you can manage your FTP server.
- The software offers everything you would expect from a good FTP client. It is based on the OS X conventions and therefore looks very familiar. Many system functions such as QuickLook have even been adopted directly into the program.
- "ForkLift" is particularly strong in the synchronization of individual orders via the network. You can easily set up and check the relevant rules. Your data will then be kept up to date.
